Fishing in Southeast Alaska is world class, there are 5 species of Salmon; King, Sockeye, Coho (silver), Chum & Pink. King & Coho are the most sought after ocean sport-caught salmon, we mooch or troll for them off the Huntress using electric downriggers. All 5 species spawn in the many rivers & streams throughout SE Alaska and are fun to fly fish/spin cast for as well as Rainbow, Cutthroat & Dolly Varden. We encourage catch & release for the salmon caught in the streams, as they are ready to spawn. The quality of a bright ocean caught salmon is far superior and we will have many opportunities for catching these. Halibut is another popular targeted catch, they can range anywhere from 10 to 400 plus pounds. The average is 30 – 60 lbs. While fishing for halibut by bait or jigs, we often catch an assortment of other bottom fish including Yellow Eye & Ling Cod. We use Loomis rods and Penn International reels, quality tackle & hydraulics for pulling shrimp & crab gear. Your fish is custom vacuum packed and frozen on board and the airline approved 50# fish boxes are provided to take your fish home with you.
